  • アンリ・ファルマンは実はイギリス国籍のフランス人でした。飛行機に興味を持ったきっかけは飛行船を操縦したことで、それでボアザンという飛行機を購入して研究を開始し、自身で設計したのがアンリ・ファルマンIIIです。彼が初めてランディングギアとしてを車輪を導入しました。当時の飛行機は”そり”が当たり前でしたが転倒事故が多く(不整地からの離発着のため、単純にいえば対ショック吸収力のないそり)それを防ぐのがネライでした。また操縦士の後ろにエンジンとプロペラを配置した形式はファルマン型と呼ばれ他の設計者も見本としたものです。
 
In fact, Henri Farman was the French of the British nationality. The cause which got interested in an airplane, is having flown the airship. Then, he purchased an airplane called Voisin, and his research was started and he designed Henri Farman III.
He introduced the wheel as a landing gear for the first time. An airplane of those days had a sled as a landing gear. It was purpose that it prevents the fall accident.(there will be no absorbency for shocking for the landing and departure from the irregular ground.) Moreover, the form which has arranged engine and the propeller behind a pilot is called Farman type, and other designers use it as a sample.
